Repair Without Spending Uridium

Spending 500 uridium to repair your ship is expensive, but often avoidable. Below are some tips and tricks, not necessarily in chronological order. Feel free to comment if you have any other strategies to prevent spending Uridium on repairs.

1. Complete all the beginner achievements before accepting a quest. You earn valuable stuff, including repair credits.

2. Don't get popped in X-1 or X-2. You can only get killed in X-1 if you shoot at invading players from other companies, fly into the radiation for too long, or fail to repair after shooting at a ridiculous number of streuners. Invading players from other companies are at least level 16 with 163.840.000 Exp, so they are not easy to kill. In X-2, monitor the orange bar on the left side of your mini-map. Don't fly out of the DMZ unless there is not orange, yellow, or red on that bar. This is sometimes impossible on weekends, but be patient. Same company members cannot shoot you in X-1 or X-2.

3. Log in daily for bonus. Day 4 is a repair credit. I one time thought that I should not log in for a day so that I could restart my log in bonus to get the repair credit, but then I did the math. The day 5 bonus is 200 uridium and a log disk. If you log in everyday, you will continue to receive the bonus once per day. By not signing in one day and then signing in four days to receive a repair credit, you forgo 5 log disks and 1,000 uridium. Logging in everyday is the best strategy.

4. Save your galaxy gate generators. You may be able to win HP or a repair credit from the galaxy gate. You receive one galaxy gate generator for each day you log in and can find them in orange cubes throughout space.

5. Buy new ships with credits. The Goliath and vengeance are exceptions; otherwise, buy a new ship with credits instead of using repair credits or Uridium. Use smaller ships until you have enough gear (lasers, repair bot 3 or 4, drones, CPUs) to equip a larger ship.

6. Refer a friend. You receive 5 repair credits and 5 log disks for each friend that reaches level 7. I have used this myself by referring a spare email address and playing on that account until it reached level 7, but this takes away a lot of time I could be spending on my main account collecting uridium and galaxy gate generators in boxes. Earning temporary premium may be worth the investment however.

7. Join Premium. This does cost money, or you can earn it by referring friends. If you do not log in for a month, Dark Orbit may offer you a month free to entice you to play again. Premium members have free ship repairs, but their drones still take damage

8. Sell flax drones. If you have 5 flax drones or less, you can earn credits by selling your level 6 drones and buying new ones to replace them. See my flax farming post. Don't use repair credits or Uridium to heal flax drones
